まるで扉のすきまのように、それらはいまも子ども時代にむかってちょっぴり開いています。わたしの記憶はどうしようもなく頼りなくて、日付やできごとはするすると抜けおちて、何年もあったはずの子ども時代は、ただひとつの長い夏として思いだされてしまいます。けれどもわたしは、子ども時代というあの特別な世界からたちのぼる匂いや、色あいや、口ぶりや、気分を、あの“扉のすきま“のおかげで呼びもどすことができるのです。
