奇病日記 １０月３０日
この前のそのきのこさんとは別人のように、今日は何か言いたげに大きな荷物を抱え店に入ってきた。椅子に座るなり、マスターには分解者がどういうものか説明しておこうと言った。世間ではキノコ病と言っているがと付け足した。どうもそのきのこさんはキノコ病よりも分解者という言葉を気に入っているようだった。
新しい世界の入り口それはキノコとの出遭いの時、正確にはキノコは美しい、キノコが好きだと自覚できた時だと言い、分解者の好きなものは、分解者を中心にきれいな弧を描くのだと言う。キノコとの出遭いによって、今までバラバラに思えた自分の行動、例えば、壁に貼ったままの新聞の切抜きだとか、なぜか鮮明に覚えている言葉であるとか、くり返し聴いていた音楽なんかもそうで、それらは胞子のようだと言い、それらもまたキノコのように地下で菌糸が繋がっているように繋がっている、それぞれが意味を持ち色づき始める、それは胞子が、時間を経てキノコの花を咲かすにそっくりだと言う、自分の好きなものの輪の中心に立ってみると、今まで好きだと思っていたもの達はキノコを誘引するものであることが、そしてそれらがキノコの出現をいまかいまかと待ちわびていたことが分かる、完全にキノコと出遭うことがプログラムされていたことが分かると言うのだ。これを奇跡といわずにいられるかと、そのきのこさんは大声で言った。
急にそのきのこさんは小声になり、この分解者のつくる輪には、独特の癖のような法則があり、今一人で研究しているのだと言った。「ミラクルアイテム」を知っているかと聞いてきた、答える間もなく、ミラクルアイテムそれは私が考えた言葉なのだと自慢げに言い、ミラクルアイテムはキノコを誘引するアイテムのことで服装や身に着けているものといった、目に見えるアイテムの他に、見えないアイテムもあると言う、コトバ、オト、ニオイはキノコととっても仲良しなのだと言い、なにを隠そう、このミラクルアイテムを研究し、潜伏中の分解者を発見し、キノコの花を咲かせることこそが、そのきのこに託された使命なのでありますと言った時、そのきのこさんは椅子の上に立っていた。私は危ないので椅子に座るようにすすめるとそのきのこさんはみるみる不機嫌になった、渋々座ったそのきのこさんの機嫌をとろうとキノコ病は治るんですか？と質問したみた、そのきのこさんの顔にパッと赤味がさした。菌輪はフェアリーリングとも呼ばれていて妖精たちが踊った足跡といわれていて、その輪の中に入った人は出てはこれないのだと嬉しそうに言い残し、はずむような足取りで帰っていった。そのきのこさんは大きな荷物を置いていってしまった、その中には色とりどりのキャンディーやお菓子があふれんばかりに詰まっていた。
私は試してみたくなっていた、私がキノコ病である訳を。気に入っているレコードを並べてみた、それだけではおさまらず、仕事はそこそこに押入れの奥から、３０年以上開けていなかったダンボール箱を引っぱり出し、幼少の頃のおもちゃや子供向けの雑誌や絵本などを夢中で探っていた。ふと部屋を見渡すとレコードやビー玉やコンパスや虫めがねなどで作られた弧の中に私は立っていた、窓の外には夕焼けみたいな赤い朝の空がひろがっていた。ひどく懐かしいような、うれしいようなこんなふうな赤い空をいつだったか見たことがあったような気がした。そしたら大きな欠伸がひとつ出た。
