1879年フランスのドローム県オートリーブで一人の郵便配達夫が石につまづいた。彼の名はフェルディナン・シュバル。その日から彼は郵便配達の仕事を続けながらも石拾い、石積みに没頭していく。1912年石につまづいてから33年の年月が経っていた、シュバルの奇妙な素晴らしい理想宮は完成した。石に選ばれし者フェルディナン・シュバル。シュバルはこれほどまでに素晴らしい建築物をこの世に残してくれました。そのきのこはシュバルが残してくれたものはもう一つあるって思います。人がある出逢いというものによってどれほどのものを生むのかということ、彼は建築の教育を受けた人ではなかったといわれています、ただ配達する絵葉書や切手を熱心にながめていたと・・・、このようにして出来たシュバルの理想宮を前に誰しも子供の頃なにかに夢中だった自分にもう一度出逢えるような、そしてキノコにも同じ力があると思えてなりません・・・
