聖ジョージのキノコ

イギリスはウェールズの首都、カーディフ在住のSteve Garrington さんの美しい写真です。

このキノコは、ユキワリ（Calocybe gambosa）だそうです。その名の通り、春先に雪を割って出てくることから名付けられた真っ白なキノコです。英語では、 St George’s Mushroom と呼ばれ、これは聖ゲオルギウス（英語のジョージ）の記念日(4月23日)前後に発生することから名付けられたそうです。おいしい食菌です。
